Texas Tries To Stop Abortion Pills

Texas has put a ban on abortion that went into effect on September 1, 2021. This law prohibits abortion for any woman who is  six weeks or more pregnant. Many are outraged because of this law due to the fact that many women do not even know that they are pregnant until after six weeks. This has led women to search for another alternative.  One of these options is the abortion pill which is Mifepristone which will stop the pregnancy from growing. Then after taking that pill you have to take Misoprostol which needs to be taken within forty-eight hours after the first pill. That will allow the pregnancy to abort.

Texas is trying to impose criminal penalties on the transfer of abortion pills. Mexico has been sending these pills to women in Texas because there is no law in Mexico against abortion. Unfortunately, the law in Texas does not provide an exception for rape or incest pregnancy. This is what is causing women to buy the abortion pill or travel to a state that will perform the procedure.

People are angry because they feel that the government is trying to control a women’s body and her destiny. Abortions have been happening for years and will continue to happen. The law makers in Texas believe that by banning abortion women will try harder to not get pregnant. However, we should focus on women’s safety and if that means abortion it should be done under a doctor’s care.
