Ways to Make Your Home More Eco-Friendly

Here are some ways to make your home more eco-friendly in 2022 and beyond.

The first tip is to make sure your home is properly insulated. Proper insulation not only keeps your home at the temperature you want, but can also lower your carbon footprint and your energy bills. There are plenty of tips online on how to insulate your home, but the main ones include blackout curtains, spray foam insulation, and weatherstripping.

Get your home Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified. By getting your home checked by a LEED inspector and going through the application process you can actually increase the value of your home by 4%! Plus, you are certifying that your home is eco-friendly to some capacity.

Utilize solar energy in your home. This can both increase your property value, and by not using fossil fuels, aid the planet.

If some of these tasks seem too daunting there are smaller things you can do, such as having a home garden, collecting rainwater, and installing light dimmers. Any small thing you can do such as reducing your plastic use is a great step towards helping the planet.
